The Sand Museum in Tottori Sand Dunes is the only indoor museum exhibited sand sculpture specially. We exhibit the highest quality sand sculptures every year by the executive producer and the professional sculptor from all over the world.

One of San’in’s eastern coastline’s main features is the Tottori Sand Dunes. The scale there is so big that it contrasts against the normally compact geographic features of the area, giving you a sense that you may not be in Japan anymore.

This museum’s impressive collection includes its Modern Japanese Art Collection. A visit to the Adachi Museum of Art will give you a glimpse into Japanese art sensibilities, from both highly-detailed artworks to the large-scale natural beauty of the gardens.

Built over a five-year span between 1607 and 1611, Matsue Castle’s keep is one of only 12 castle keeps across Japan that is still in their original state. Additionally, it was designated as a national treasure in 2015, making it one of only five castle keeps to have such a designation

The Yata Ferry area has 1300 years of history, and from here, you can take the only remaining ferry boat out to Kitsunemorijima, an uninhabited island that has a campground on it. Although it is relatively close to the central part of the city, you can enjoy relaxing here in a natural environment, sitting by a campfire, walking around the island, or any number of other activities available to do there.
