Tottori Prefecture has the highest catch volume of red king crab in all of Japan. The fishing season for king crab in the Sea of Japan runs from early November to March of the following year. The high-quality male snow crabs landed in Tottori Prefecture are called “Tottori Matsuba Crab.” The museum also features a touch pool where children can directly interact with marine life. Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Memorial Museum (Nashikko-kan)
Japan's only pear-themed museum, created to share knowledge and the appeal of pears. It was built in Tottori Prefecture, famous for its “Nijisseiki”(20th century) pears. Passing through the lobby, you'll find a massive 20th Century pear tree. Its branches spread like an umbrella, covering the entire ceiling and creating an overwhelming sight. The most recommended spot is the “Pear Tasting Corner”! Here, you can sample three different pear varieties each season, clearly tasting the differences in acidity, sweetness, and texture between each variety. Additionally, the museum displays models of 70 different pear varieties, and I was amazed by the sheer number of types.
