We highly recommend the sightseeing cruise boat, because you can enjoy it no matter what your schedule is like. The cruise, which operates from March to November, lets you see the islands along the coast up close, even if you don’t have much time. Also, the road along the coast is perfect for a sightseeing drive, as there are several lookout spots set up that give you the opportunity to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery and sea breeze. The Uradome Coast is definitely a place worth visiting.

Uradome Coast
(Uradome Coast)
The Uradome Coast is a sawtooth-shaped coastal area in Tottori Prefecture’s Iwami Town. It has been designated as a national place of scenic beauty and a natural monument. Here you can enjoy both the scenery and an assortment of activities. It’s only ten minutes by car from the Tottori Sand Dunes, so why not make this part of your trip when you visit there?
You can see many small islands along the coast that have been weathered and eroded into unusual shapes, and the water here boasts a clarity that comparable to the ocean waters around the nationally-famous resort areas of Okinawa. And, because this area isn’t as well-known as Okinawa, you don’t have to fight any crowds when you visit.
For people who enjoy outdoor activities, there are a variety of ways to enjoy this area, including marine activities like sea kayaking and stand up paddleboarding (summer only), and hiking (year-round, and the course takes about two hours).
